    Hi Everyone –

In light of Austin just moving to Stage 4 COVID restrictions, some of the current ASRDA Board members are concerned about the risk of spreading the COVID delta variant at the upcoming Installation dance.  Basically Stage 4 Guidelines say that when in a public or private gathering, vaccinated people should wear masks and unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals not attend these gatherings.

We are aware that people are tired of having dances cancelled or being told they have to wear a mask.  We are pretty sure that the longer we don’t dance, the more dancers we will give up on square dancing.  But we are also aware that the delta variant is more contagious than previous strains and there are even questions as to whether or not vaccinated people can carry the virus in their noses and spread it to unvaccinated people.  There are also breakthrough cases in vaccinated people.  We don’t want more people getting COVID.

At the time of this writing, Hyde Park Christian Church is open so we will be having the Installation Dance.  Masks will be highly encouraged but not mandatory. There will be hand sanitizer and “No Hugs” badges.  Each of you has your own risk tolerance so you must decide for yourself whether or not you are comfortable attending the dance.

If you decide to come, we’ll see you at the Installation Dance on 31 July @ 7:30.

Fraudulent emails are being circulated again.

Both Chet M. and Dan C. received an "email" supposedly from me asking for folks to buy gift cards. It is not even my email address.

Would you be able to send out a quick email to everyone in ASRDA and tell them to ignore and delete it?

    Thanks!

    Brooke

    Here is an excerpt:

How are you today? I need your Assistance, are you available? I'm out of town. Can you please handle this for me on behalf of the association. Austin Square and Round Dance Association .needs Gift cards for donation to Veterans Hospice care unit across the community. Kindly confirm if you can help out?

    Brooke Peters,
    President.

If you received an email like this claiming to be from me, ignore and delete it.Thanks!

At the close of December, each club should send me a list of any new members and students. This is used for the ASRDA membership list as well as to update the State insurance coverage. This is a no-charge, mid-year benefit.

For updates, any format is ok. Send to pdxtdbear@gmail.com

The next ASRDA delegate meeting will be on 9 November 2019 1- 3 pm.  From 3 - 4 the Mid-Tex and Conclave meetings will take place.  The Teen Scholarship dance starts at 5 pm.  The meeting will be at our usual location, Hyde Park Christian Church, 610 East 45th Street, Austin, TX.

There is NO delegate meeting this coming Saturday 5 October.  I am encouraging all dancers to support Come-N-Take-It and go dance in the square in Gonzales at 6 pm.  There is a potluck following the dance at 7 pm.  Call Ruby Buesing for more details at 830-857-6633.

If you are closer to San Antonio, you can participate in "Night in Old Converse" where there will be a demo dance and audience participation from 4:30 - 5:30 pm on 5 October..  Wear your square dance badge and you can get into the festival for free.  If you have more questions about this event, call Brooke at 210-392-5433.

I hope to see you all at the delegate meeting on 9 November!

    Brooke
    President, ASRDA

The Teen Scholarship Dance was rescheduled from Oct 5 to Nov 9.  While changed on the web site, the old information was accidentally included in ASRDA Events email distributed this morning.

Please ignore that event listing, but please do plan to attend the correct one:
