Festival attire in Waco on Friday, June 12th, 2009

Friday night is when everyone will wear their Waco Festival bandana attire. Dan and Kathy Amburn, President(s) of Texas State Federation of Square and Round Dancers, have passed out over 1500 bandanas across this great state of ours and have seen many creative outfits. We hope everyone will wear the bandana attire on Friday representing unity and the fun we have all had getting ready for this Festival.

State Festival help (12 one hour positions)-workers needed

The Austin Association has been asked to help with State Festival.  We are responsible for the caller/cuer room from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday  The job requires that the callers and cuers sign in and we are to monitor that.

Pine Knot Squares

It is with regret that the Pine Knot Squares Dance club in Bastrop, Texas has folded. We have not had membership growth for the past year and do not have enough members to continue dancing weekly. Therefore, the remaining members decided that it was best to fold the club. Hopefully, in the future, if there are enough dancers interested in dancing in Bastrop, the club can regroup and square dancing can resume. It is hoped that the remaining Pine Knots members will continue dancing at other clubs in the area.

Mid-Tex Festival's Saturday Cuer will be Karen Gloodt

Our original Mid-Tex cuer, Joy Read, fractured her pelvis while bicycling and cannot be at Mid-Tex.   We will keep Joy in  our thoughts and prayers that she will recover quickly and completely.

Morris and Ann Winkle contacted Karen Gloodt of Ardmore, Oklahoma and succeeded in gaining Karen's commitment to cue in place of Joy.   We are asking Karen to please avoid any risky activities.
